Sitter Agreement

This is the agreement between you, as a sitter offering care on Trusted Sitters Near Me, and us. By creating a sitter profile or accepting a booking, you agree to everything below.

Sitter standards (Terms of Use)

By continuing, you agree to the Trusted Sitters Near Me Terms of Use, including:

  • Identity verification
  • Background check
  • CPR/First Aid (childcare)
  • Two references
  • Minimum 1 year experience
  • 30-minute response time during active bookings
  • No last-minute cancellations
  • Zero tolerance for no-shows
  • Professional communication
  • Following parent instructions
  • Maintaining a 4.7+ rating
  • No off-platform payments
  • 12-month non-compete with platform families
  • Honest time tracking
  • Safety-first behavior
  • Emergency readiness
  • Independent contractor status

You must meet and maintain all standards to remain active on Trusted Sitters Near Me.

1. Who you are

You are an independent sitter, not our employee. You choose which families you work with, which services you offer, your own rates and your own schedule. You are responsible for your own taxes, insurance and any licences your local area requires.

2. Verification before you appear

Your profile stays hidden from families until your identity photo and background check are reviewed and cleared. You agree that the documents you upload are genuine, current and your own, and that you will tell us right away if anything on your record changes.

We may hide or remove a profile at any time if a check expires, a document can't be verified, or we receive a serious safety concern.

3. Accepting bookings

A family sends a request; you accept or decline it. Once you accept, the family pays and the booking is confirmed. Accepting a booking is a commitment to show up on time and provide the care, tasks and add-ons described in the request.

Keep your schedule up to date. Repeatedly declining, cancelling late or not showing up can limit or end your access to the platform.

4. Care standards

  • Never leave children, seniors or pets unattended when supervision was agreed.
  • Follow the family's written instructions on routines, food, medication and access to the home.
  • No alcohol, drugs or unapproved visitors during a booking.
  • Keep family information, addresses and door codes private.
  • Call emergency services first in an emergency, then the family, then us.

5. Pay and payouts

Your pay is the full care price of each booking (the family pays the 5% booking fee separately — it's never taken from your pay), less any amount refunded to the family. A stay is approved and completed automatically 48 hours after it ends unless the family opens a concern; your pay is then released on the payout schedule you choose — daily, weekly or monthly — once your balance reaches your minimum threshold. Extra time or add-ons must be agreed and charged within 48 hours after the stay ends. The same 48-hour window applies to families and sitters for approvals, refunds, payments and payouts.

Payouts are sent through Stripe to the bank account you link on your Payouts page. Stripe may ask you to verify your identity before you can be paid. If a payout fails because your details are wrong or out of date, it goes out again on the next run once fixed.

6. Cancellations

  • You cancel more than 48 hours ahead: the family is fully refunded, no penalty to you.
  • You cancel within 48 hours: the family is fully refunded and the cancellation is noted on your account. Repeat late cancellations can pause your listing.
  • You don't show up: the family is fully refunded and your listing may be suspended.
  • The family cancels within 24 hours: you keep 50% of the booking total as compensation for the held time.

7. Credits and refunds

Families can raise a concern about a booking for up to 48 hours after it ends — the same window in which the stay is approved and your pay is released. After 48 hours the stay is final. We review both sides, including your messages and notes, and decide within 48 hours of the concern being opened. Possible outcomes:

  • No adjustment — the care was delivered as agreed and you are paid in full.
  • Partial refund or service credit to the family — for example, care ended early or an add-on wasn't delivered. Your pay is reduced by the same amount.
  • Full refund — a no-show or a serious safety failure. No pay for that booking.

A service credit is store credit the family can use towards a future booking; it isn't cash, doesn't expire for 12 months and can't be transferred. If a refund is decided after you've already been paid, the amount is deducted from your next payout.

8. Reviews

Families review you and you review them. Reviews must be honest and about the booking itself. We may remove reviews that contain abuse, personal contact details or anything unrelated to the care.

9. Non-compete and non-solicitation

Bookings arranged with a family you met here must be booked and paid here. While you are active on Trusted Sitters Near Me, and for 12 months after your last booking with a family you met through the platform, you agree not to:

  • Offer, accept or arrange care for that family outside the platform, directly or through anyone else.
  • Ask or encourage that family to book or pay you off the platform, or share contact details to do so.
  • Take cash, apps (Venmo, Zelle, Cash App and similar) or any other off-platform payment from that family.
  • Refer that family to another care service or agency in exchange for payment.

This covers only families you met through Trusted Sitters Near Me. You remain free to work with families you found on your own and for other platforms or employers.

Consequences of a breach:

  • Your account is permanently deactivated and your profile removed from search.
  • You owe a conversion fee of $1,500 per family, which you agree is a reasonable estimate of the fees we lose, and may be deducted from any future payouts.
  • Any reviews and badges tied to the off-platform work are removed.
  • We may pursue any further remedies available under law.

Money you have already earned for completed on-platform bookings is still paid out. If a family asks you to go off-platform, decline and let us know through your dashboard messages.

10. Ending the agreement

You can deactivate your listing at any time from your dashboard, as long as you complete any confirmed bookings first. We can suspend or close an account for safety concerns, fraud, repeated cancellations or breaking these terms. Any money you've already earned is still paid out.

Questions about these terms? Reach us through your dashboard messages. See also the Client Agreement.
